What Assisted Living Costs in Venice & Sarasota County (2026)

2026 costs for assisted living and memory care in Venice, FL: base-rate ranges, care-level add-ons, hidden fees, and how to compare unlike quotes.

Budget for $3,000–$5,500/month base for assisted living in Venice and ~$4,951/month average for memory care — then add care-level charges of $500–$1,500. The all-in number at your loved one's assessed level is the only figure worth comparing.

The three numbers in every quote

Every Venice community prices from the same skeleton. The base rate buys the suite, meals and standard services. The care level — set by the pre-admission assessment — adds the personal-care hours. Ancillaries (medication management, incontinence supplies, laundry, salon, transport) are itemised or bundled depending on the operator. Two communities quoting "$3,900" and "$4,600" can cost the same once all three layers are on the table, which is why comparing base rates is the classic family mistake.

The fees that surprise families

Annual increases (ask for the last three years' percentage in writing), level reassessments after a hospitalisation, third-party pharmacy and therapy billing, and end-of-contract terms — notice periods and refund maths on the move-in fee. None of these are scandalous; all of them belong in your comparison spreadsheet before you sign, not after.

How to compare unlike quotes

Ask each shortlisted community the same question: “At my mother's assessed care level, what is the total monthly invoice including everything you bill — and what was your average annual increase over the last three years?” Get it in writing. Then read the how-to-pay guide for what Medicaid, VA benefits and LTC insurance can offset, and take the tour checklist to all three tours.
